“There can be no doubt that Carol’s exceptional service and guidance was instrumental in the supreme success we enjoyed together! From the outset, Carol captured the vision we had for our 5-year celebration, and throughout the planning process she was always two (or 3 or 4) steps ahead of us. Carol has our highest recommendation, our gratitude, and most of all our friendship!”

Earlier Projects

The New York Foundling

Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1869, The New York Foundling was established to save abandoned children.  It has evolved through the years to meet the vast variety of community needs in neighborhoods struggling with poverty, drugs and violence.  www.nyfoundling.org

For over 10 years as a special consultant, I reported to the Director of Development and Public Relations, Ginny Keim, for projects that included producing numerous senior-level customized fund-raising events:  A Gilded Age Dining Experience celebrating the Foundling’s 135th Year Anniversary at a famous apartment in the Dakota; The Hearts of Gold Celebration of Giving at Gilt; The 140th Anniversary Homecoming (a multi-day celebration at the Yale Club); Tomorrow Is Tonight—The New York Foundling Celebrates Annie the Musical and honors William C. Rudin and Anthony L. Watson.  I also worked on the opening of Haven Academy in the south Bronx and provided hands-on support for numerous development activities.

Vamoose Bus

A privately-held, family-owned New York City-based company, Vamoose Bus was founded in 2004 and provides point-to-point bus service between NYC and the Washington, DC area.  Its reputation for customer service, cost-effective fares, and a safe travel experience makes Vamoose a favorite mode of transportation.  www.VamooseBus.com

On an ongoing basis, I develop and implement marketing, public relations and promotional initiatives.  I managed the launch of the Gold Bus, offering first-class comfort with superb business amenities, and the inauguration of the additional pick-up/drop-off location in Lorton, VA.

Team Rubicon

Uniting the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, Team Rubicon is growing quickly to support recovery efforts after natural disasters wherever they occur.  Thousands of US military veterans, many returning home after fighting a decade of war, find a renewed mission while using their skills with Team Rubicon.  www.teamrubiconusa.org

I provided logistics and fund-raising support for a special event in 2013 at Hudson Terrace in NYC,  generously supported by the owner who saw first-hand the work of Team Rubicon in the Rockaways during hurricane Sandy. Auctioneer Nick Dawes led a spirited, live, fund-a-need auction that exceeded expectations.  Founders Jake Wood and William McNulty will take this recently established, not-for-profit to the next level rapidly:  Team Rubicon—Bridge the Gap.

HHC — New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation

The mission of HHC is to extend equally to all New Yorkers, regardless of their ability to pay, comprehensive health services of the highest quality in an atmosphere of humane care, dignity and respect.  www.nychhc.org

As the Executive Director of The Fund for HHC, Joe Schick was the executive producer of STAT!2011 for HHC.  It was a week-long Citywide Series of Multicultural Music and Arts Events designed to celebrate and benefit HHC Healthcare Facilities.  I provided strategic planning/production management services.  I continue to work with the development department to cultivate donors, build awareness, and to demonstrate to communities and the media, the enormous impact that HHC makes in NYC.

Publicolor

A non-profit providing design-based programs to at-risk youth and bringing vibrant color to institutional public spaces in New York City.  Founded by Ruth Lande Shuman in 1996, Publicolor teaches the process of commercial painting to create a new community of students who work together to improve their learning environment.   www.publicolor.org

In 2009, 2011 and 2012,  I was project manager for SS+R (Stir, Splatter and Roll), the annual interactive fund-raising event, with overall logistics responsibilities including script development, supervision of venue set-up and load-out, AV and décor, and entertainment.

Clinton Global Initiative

Established by President Bill Clinton in 2005, its mission is to turn ideas into action.  www.clintonglobalinitiative.org

As a member of the launch team for the first meeting of CGI in NYC, I reported to Mary Morrison regarding the development and execution of logistics for all hotel F&B and the special VIP event off-site catering, staff arrangements, décor, transportation and communications.  The launch team included a list of supreme NYC professionals including Gail Seay, Howard Kolins, Paul Cresci, Tess Casey, Steve Kay, Karen Ford, Dominic Housiaux, Pat Fahey, and other highly credentialed vendors.  We set the standard for the future programs.

Colony Capital — Meadowlands Xanadu

Designed and developed to be a premier destination that would offer new and innovative experiences for the entire family, Meadowlands Xanadu was to unite entertainment attractions with fine retail and gourmet restaurants.  (It is being relaunched as the American Dream/Meadowlands project by Triple Five Worldwide.)

I worked with the entire Colony Capital group—ownership, leadership including Larry Siegel and Dan Haggarty, and leasing and construction executives—to develop and support marketing/promotion/communications and pre-launch media relations.  From supervising fabrication of the site and project model to development of the marketing presentation suite and leasing materials, I interfaced with the architects, managers as well as the Public Relations teams in NYC and NJ.  I project-managed the Meadowlands Xanadu presence at the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) global real estate convention in Las Vegas for three years.  In addition to a state-of-the art booth, I executed promotional events for several hundred guests.  I prepared numerous road maps for the future along with the tourism consultant, the arts and events director, and the marketing/leasing executives.

Torre Mayor/Reichmann International

A development of Reichmann International.  It is the tallest building in Latin America. www.torremayor.com.mx

In 1993, Reichmann International participated in a press conference to confirm it was launching three major commercial real estate projects in Mexico City.  Using the recently renovated Museo de la Ciuidad in the Centro Historico, I hired and managed the local production team for two events:  a sit-down, formal dinner for 250 VIP’s and celebrities, and a cocktail reception for 500 business leaders.  My responsibilities included conducting the site surveys, negotiating for the selected venue, interviewing and hiring a Kosher caterer, hiring and supervising all local resources, developing a museum-quality exhibition of models and photo panels of the design plans, renderings and location information, and managing the protocol for the distinguished architects, politicians, and local and international executives.

When the tower envisioned as Chapultepec at Reforma was begun, I was the project and production manager for the renaming and graphics, the groundbreaking, a topping off, a construction progress event, broker under-construction preview events, and in June of 2003, the grand opening of Torre Mayor with President Fox giving the keynote address.

Dow Jones & Company

Dow Jones publishes business news and finance information in a variety of media including The Wall Street Journal.  www.dowjones.com

The Future of Sports, presented by The Wall Street Journal, was a power breakfast with the four sports commissioners—Baseball, Football, Basketball and Hockey—presenting their visions and answering questions.  It was the first time all four commissioners have been on the same stage.  Produced by Robert Christie, I provided logistics support for reception, venue interface, AV elements and guest amenities.

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation is a philanthropic, not-for-profit grantmaking institution based in New York City. www.sloan.org

In 2009, the Sloan Foundation celebrated its 75th Anniversary, and I was hired to work with the executive committee, headed by Dr. Paula Olsiewski, to manage the celebration and educational events:  a symposium  and a black-tie gala.  I have subsequently worked on the logistics for other seminars.

North Castle Partners

A Private Equity firm focused in the health, wellness and active living sector, North Castle Partners is based in Greenwich, CT.  www.northcastlepartners.com

From 2000 to 2008, I managed a Partner meeting and Investor Conference each year, one local and one at a remote location.  I researched and confirmed the venues, created the team-building activities, hired vendors to carry out the executive vision, supervised the creation and fabrication of custom recognition awards, scripted the AV support, and was hands-on, on-site throughout.  I became part of the internal team.

WBIS-TV (S+)

WBIS+, Channel 31, was New York’s first new broadcast television station in nearly 30 years when it went on the air in January 1997.  It was a 24-hour, independent broadcast television station focusing on News and Sports and was owned by a partnership of Dow Jones & Company and ITT Corporation.

With the executive committee and the President, Carolyn Wall, I executed the pre-launch press preview and a launch party on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange.  Goodman Media, (www.goodmanmedia.com) managed the press relations.  The photo op was then Mayor Giuliani and Carolyn Wall pressing the buzzer which starts the trading day, but on this occasion it initiated a video presentation of the station’s programming.  I scripted and directed the presentation.  There is tight turn-around time when working on the Exchange floor and each element from security check-in to the entertainment by the Knick City Dancers was carefully orchestrated.

Olympia & York Companies USA

Olympia & York was a privately held international real estate development firm.  Olympia & York restructured in 1993 to be Olympia and York Properties.

Director of Communications   1984-1993

Originally hired by Tom Arnott, the SVP of US Leasing, I became responsible for the development and execution of quality-sensitive communications programs and special projects for all departments within O&Y.

My department supervised the development of  graphic support materials, produced external and internal communications events, located resources to support executive’s ideas, produced road shows for investors, and tenant relations and support for executive presentations worldwide.  I was the US liaison for the production of launch activities announcing the development of Canary Wharf, including the groundbreaking with the Honorable Margaret Thatcher and the NYC announcement with the Duchess of York.  In 1985, I produced the launch event for The World Financial Center in NYC for the opening of the first commercial tower with 1500 attendees, then Governor Cuomo, Mayor Koch, the Reichmanns, the Canadian Trade Commissioner, the Battery Park City Authority, and Dow Jones executives, for the ringing of the gong and subsequent ticker tape shower.  In 1988,  along with the executive committee and many talented local professionals, we executed the four-day launch and dedication of the Winter Garden and the Grand Public Spaces.  This celebration included the Stop Cancer fund-raising gala with the Philadelphia Orchestra and a formal dinner for 800.  The gala, the art exhibit, and special activations were the first of their magnitude held in the Winter Garden and set the standard for future spectacular New York City public and private events.  The gala was documented in John Loring’s 1989 book Tiffany Parties.
